Man accused of firing at newspaper carrier in Kettering indicted

UPDATE @ 2:02 p.m. (Dec. 8):

Kenneth Ignozzi was indicted today for two counts of felonious assault and one count of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 13.

UPDATE @ 10:20 a.m. (Nov. 21):

Kettering police have identified the suspect that allegedly fired a shot that narrowly missed injuring a Dayton Daily News carrier Monday morning.

Kenneth Ignozzi, 27, was arrested on the scene of the reported incident in the 3200 block of Carrier Avenue.

Ignozzi was booked into the Kettering City Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, however official charges are still pending, according to jail records.

UPDATE @7:55 a.m.

A Dayton Daily News carrier narrowly escaped injury Monday morning when a bullet fired at his car traveled through the sleeves of his jacket and sweatshirt.

Police said the .40-caliber round missed the driver.

The driver then drove himself to the police station.

FIRST REPORT

Kettering police said a Dayton Daily News carrier was not injured after shots were fired at their vehicle early Monday morning.

Investigators said they responded to the 3200 block of Carrier Avenue around 6:15 a.m. after the carrier reported someone shot at their vehicle.

Police said there were no injuries reported, but the vehicle was hit with one gunshot from a handgun.

Investigators added one person was taken into custody, but their identity was not available.

It was not known if the shooting was targeted or random, and additional details were not available.
