7 inmates suspected of aiding Warren County escape

Seven inmates of a low-security jail in Warren County are under investigation in connection with the escape of two other inmates in May.

Daniel Hatfield Jr. and Jeremy Mink remained in the Warren County Jail today, awaiting arraignment on charges of escape from the Ohio Department of Corrections Community Correction Center on Ohio 63, across from two state prisons.

Mink and Hatfield were arrested in Middletown on May 20, a day after the Warren County Sheriff’s Office reached out for help from the public in locating them after reports of two men running through a field near the jail and jumping into a silver minivan that drove off.

Hatfield was being held for violation of probation on drug offenses in Butler County, Mink on drug offenses from Clermont County, according to the press release asking for the public’s help.

Seven inmates from the state facility are under investigation for aiding the escape, according to report obtained by this newspaper. The sheriff’s office declined to provide further details, citing the continuing investigation.

Mink, 28, of Goshen, was arrested at 2 p.m., May 2o, on Main Street in Middletown, according to the release and jail records.

Hatfield, 27, of Middletown, was arrested an hour earlier in Lemon Twp., an area of Butler County around the Middletown Mall, according to jail records.

Both were being held without bond, but scheduled for arraignment today in Warren County Common Pleas Court.

They face prison and fines, if convicted.
