Ex-jail officer pleads not guilty to second case of inmate sex charges

The former Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office corrections officer already indicted for a sex crime against an inmate on Thursday pleaded not guilty to an earlier alleged attack.

Franco R. Villella, 23, of Troy, is free on electronic monitoring. During a short appearance in front of Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Dennis Langer, Villella pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexual battery that allegedly happened between Aug. 20 and Oct. 30, 2018.

Villella was indicted in December on two counts of sexual battery for allegedly having sex Dec. 11 with a female inmate in a bathroom.

Villella’s next hearing is scheduled for May 2. Villella also faces a federal civil lawsuit related to the December incident.
