A repeat sex offender most recently convicted of sexual conduct with two teens was sentenced Monday to six years in prison by a Miami County judge who said she needed to “protect minors and young women” from him.

David Maxon, 49, of Bradford was sentenced on two felony charges of unlawful sexual conduct in Miami County Common Pleas Court. He was accused of sexual contact with two 15-year-old girls in separate incidents in December and pleaded guilty in March.

Maxon previously was convicted in 1991 of attempted gross sexual imposition and in 2017 of misdemeanor sexual imposition.

Maxon withheld comment before sentencing. Prosecutors said they would recommend concurrent sentences but otherwise remain silent.

Judge Jeannine Pratt said Maxon went beyond sexual touching of the girls.

“He brought them to his household, took advantage of them and violated them,” she said. “The defendant’s actions are predatory in nature … The court needs to protect minors and young women.”

Pratt sentenced him to three years on each charge and ordered him to serve the sentences consecutively after noting that one of the victims had previously been victimized by Maxon.

He previously was a Tier I sexual offender but the designation was elevated to a Tier II sex offender at sentencing. The Tier II designation requires him to register his address with his local sheriff every six months for 25 years.
