UPDATE @ 10:46 a.m.:

Kettering police have identified the driver from yesterday’s pursuit as Jeromy L. Applegate, 37, of South Salem, Ohio.

Applegate was arrested a few hours following the pursuit and was booked into the Kettering Jail on felony fleeing and elluding charges and two Dayton warrants, according to police.

UPDATE @ 8:48 a.m.:

Kettering police have arrested the suspected driver involved in Monday’s chase that involved a crash before officers terminated the pursuit, according to Officer John Jung with Kettering Police.

According to Jung, the department’s investigation has determined that the suspected robber from a series of robberies in Dayton, Kettering and Fairborn was never in the vehicle.

The vehicle was recovered on Nill Avenue in Dayton around 1 p.m.

The driver was booked into jail on suspicion of traffic violations and fleeing and eluding, Jung said.

The driver’s identity was not immediately released.

UPDATE @ 3:25 p.m.:

Kettering police confirmed the vehicle recovered on Nill Avenue in Dayton this afternoon is the same vehicle that fled from officers and led them on a chase this morning.

UPDATE @ 1:55 p.m.:

Dayton and Kettering police are on the scene where a vehicle, possibly involved in a chase in Kettering earlier this morning, has been recovered.

Kettering police are still working to determine if the vehicle recovered is indeed the one involved in this morning’s chase, according to Officer John Jung, with the Kettering Police Department.

The vehicle, a gold Volvo with damage to it, was recovered on Nill Avenue around 1 p.m.

UPDATE @ 1:07 p.m.:

Kettering police are investigating after a suspect fled from an attempted traffic stop and is suspected of causing a crash at Wilmington and Patterson Road.

The chase started after officers tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Rahn Road and Wilmington Pike around 11 a.m., according to police.

The suspect vehicle fled from officers and drove at speeds in excess of 50 mph, said Officer John Jung with Kettering Police.

According to Jung, the suspect’s description from the pursuit matched the basic description of the suspect from a series of robberies late last week, but that is the only characteristic police have that may link the suspect vehicle to the robberies.

“With the recent robberies that have taken place we have increased our patrols,” Jung said. “The robbery suspect is on everybody’s minds.”

Jung could not definitively say if the suspect from the chase was indeed the man suspected in at least six robberies locally since Thursday, but didn’t rule it out as a possibility.

“It’s very possible that that’s one of the reasons the vehicle was identified,” Jung said.
