A Kettering man called police after he spotted his stolen trailer attached to a pickup truck in Dayton.

The white box truck trailer was found around 4:15 p.m. Thursday hooked to an older model green Dodge pickup truck parked near the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Purcell Street in Dayton. The VIN sticker and trailer stickers had been scraped off, but the owner was able to provide a copy of his trailer registration, according to a Dayton police report.

Ren Benning, 35, of Xenia, told Dayton police he brought the trailer for $500 from a man in Xenia. He said he received a call and photo of the trailer from the man offering to sell it.

Benning agreed to surrender his cellphone to Kettering police to attempt to retrieve any photos of the trailer and cellphone numbers for the man he said sold it to him.
