Man accused of stealing from Miami County church

A man is in custody at the Miami County Jail after being arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stealing tools from a church.

Andrew B. Ledwith, 45, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering and an outstanding warrant in Greene County.

Deputies received a report at 12:47 p.m. of a burglary in progress at the Troy Freewill Baptist Church on South County Road 25A in Concord Twp., according to a release from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found someone had entered the church and stolen tools, and saw a man running from the area across a field on County Road 25A towards the bike path as deputies arrived.

Deputies, with assistance from Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers in the area, began a search for the suspect, eventually finding him on the railroad tracks near a train trestle running along the bike path, the release said.

The suspect was identified as Ledwith, the release said, who had stolen property from the Troy Freewill Baptist Church in his possession.
