The attorney for a man accused of killing Dayton resident Kwasi Casey says his client is innocent.

Ryan Reese, 24, was booked into Montgomery County Jail on Monday. Reese was indicted last week on four counts of murder, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of extortion, two counts of felonious assault and one count of gross abuse of a corpse in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Murder indictment filed in case where man was found in burned Dayton garage

Reese is charged in connection to the disappearance and death of Casey, whose remains were found in a burned garage. Casey was first reported missing on July 7. His remains were discovered Sept. 26.

Defense attorney Carlos Crawford is representing Reese and said he has had conversations about the case with his client.

“I have not received discovery, but in our conversations with each other, I believe he is completely innocent, and I expect the evidence to show that,” Crawford said.

Jail records say Reese is due in court on Thursday morning.
