Man in dreadlock wig robs PNC in Riverside

RIVERSIDE — A man disguised in a dreadlock wig, yellow construction vest and work gloves robbed the PNC bank in Riverside about 11 a.m. Saturday, according to police.

The bank, at 182 Woodman Drive, was temporarily closed while police gathered evidence, including surveillance video.

Riverside Police Sgt. David Crigler said that a man, about 6-feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds and wearing a white shirt, blue jacket and blue jeans, a bandana, brown work boots — as well as the wig, vest, gloves — and carrying a white construction hard hat demanded money with a note. The robber then left the bank with money in a brownish backpack and fled from the shopping center into an adjacent neighborhood.

Two customers, as well as employees, were in the bank.

The suspect made no threatening statements or produced a weapon, police said.

“No weapons, just a note demanding the money,” Crigler told WHIO Channel 7.

Despite the costume, police were confident they would catch the suspect once they showed surveillance photos around the area.

“Someone will recognize him,” Crigler said.
