Man indicted on murder charges in Dayton shooting

A Dayton was indicted on murder in a shooting that killed a 24-year-old man on May 29 on Manhattan Avenue in Dayton.

Anthony Eugene Gause, 31, was also indicted on felonious assault, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises and tampering with evidence, according to Montgomery County grand jury records.

Gause is accused of killing Jayven Torren Kilgore following a fight on Manhattan Avenue the morning of May 29.

The incident started in the 900 block after Kilgore and another man got into an argument, according to Dayton Municipal Court records.

Kilgore reportedly attempted to run from the area, but the first man, Gause and another man caught up to him.

During a fight between Kilgore and the third man, Gause hit Kilgore in the face with gun, according to court documents.

Kilgore managed to get across the street and tried to run away again.

Gause told detectives that as Kilgore was running away he fired at least two rounds at Kilgore, which resulted in his death, court records read.
