These charges came from an incident back on July 3, when a woman texted 911 to say she was being held against her will by her ex-boyfriend in a car, according to investigators. Her phone signal was tracked to the area of Deeds Avenue and Ray Street in Dayton.

When police entered the area, investigators said the car took off with the woman still inside. Officers chased it until it crashed on state Route 4 south of Harshman Road.

The driver, later identified as Brownlee, took off on foot into the woods and was captured after a short chase.

The woman who texted 911 sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, as was Brownlee, who told police that he took fentanyl during the chase, investigators said.

The kidnapping charge carries a maximum sentence of 16.5 years, and the domestic violence charge carries a maximum sentence of three years.
