Judge Neal Bronson accepted Holland’s plea change from not guilty and ordered a pre-sentence investigation that will be considered when he is sentenced May 10. Holland faces up to 30 years in prison.
Holland previously spent five years in prison for robbery before being released in 2009. He was arrested at a hotel in Springfield on Jan. 2 and has been held in the Warren County Jail.
Holland robbed the Family Dollar Store in the Colony Square shopping complex around noon on Dec. 31, then led police on a chase along Ohio 63 and 741 before eluding capture. He entered the Family Dollar and purchased a small item and then told the clerk he had a gun, although none was displayed, and demanded money from the cash register, police said. After the clerk handed the robber an undisclosed sum of money, he fled in a silver 2006 Suzuki SUV. A customer at the store noted the license plate, which is how police were able to identify and track him. Holland then drove west through Lebanon on Ohio 63 at speeds reaching in excess of 100 miles per hour, police said. The chase was terminated for reasons of public safety.
Holland was also convicted of robbing the Sav-a-Lot grocery store in Franklin on Dec. 29, and the McDonald’s restaurant in Franklin on Dec. 30.
