Last month, Moxley pleaded no contest to a count of involuntary manslaughter with a gun specification by bill of information — meaning he was not indicted by a grand jury. Prosecutors said the plea deal was worked out with Frost’s family.
“You took a good person away,” a cousin of Frost’s said while reading a victim impact statement. “As you can see, he was loved by so many people… . (Moxley) can go home to his kids after this little nine years. (Frost) can’t come home to his kids. My cousin’s kids ain’t going to get to see him no more. But, he going to get dealt with, period.”
Police say Moxley fatally shot Frost on June 19, 2013. Moxley was arrested about two weeks later at the Cincinnati bus station after buying a ticket to Atlanta. Defense attorneys said Moxley did not know Frost.
When asked by Dankof if he wanted to say anything, Moxley said: “Uh, no sir.”
He was given six years for the involuntary manslaughter charge and three years for a firearm specification. Moxley, who has 534 days of jail-time credit, will have no chance of early release. He also must play restitution of $7,8985.80 to Frost’s family.
“We talked about (the plea deal) with law enforcement; we talked about that with the family,” prosecutor Lynda Ashbery Dodd said. “We agreed as a group that that was the right thing to do for this case at this time.”
