Man facing murder charges in deadly Dayton apartment shooting

A Dayton man wanted by U.S. Marshals in connection to a deadly shooting at Eagle Ridge Apartments earlier this month is facing murder charges.

Karlton S. Jones, 24, was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault, according to court records.

On March 2, Dayton police responded to the 5000 block of Northcrest Drive at Eagle Ridge Apartments on a shooting.

Chendo “B.J.” Buford Jr., 26, of Dayton, was found lying in the street with gunshot wounds, according to a court affidavit.

One 911 caller said they heard four or five gunshots. Another caller said there was a large group of people gathered around the victim.

Buford died on the scene, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

“Jones’ cellphone was left at the scene and he was captured on video and identified by other witnesses that saw him prior to the shooting,” the affidavit read.

On March 4, U.S. Marshals announced they were looking to question Jones in Buford’s death. He has not been found.
