Man wanted in Miami Twp. hotel shooting arrested in Dayton

A man wanted in connection to a shooting outside a Miami Twp. hotel that led to a chase and car crash was arrested in Dayton Tuesday.

Jesse Shepherd, 28, was taken into custody at a Lakeside Drive home in Dayton around 2:30 p.m., according to our news partners at WHIO.

He was taken into custody without incident.

On Dec. 18, Miami Twp. police responded to a report of a person shot outside the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel on Prestige Place in Miami Twp.

One person was reportedly shot in the head.

A 9-1-1 caller was able to describe a pickup truck seen fleeing the parking lot as well as a man inside it.

Police following the truck until it crash in Moraine at Nicolas and Dryden roads.

Dennis Lamar Taylor was taken into custody, but a second man, later identified as Shepherd, fled the scene.

Shepherd reported the truck as missing about six minutes after the chase ended, according to police dispatch records.

In January, Shepherd was indicted on attempted murder, attempted aggravated murder, felonious assault, aggravated robbery failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, according to court documents.
