A man was killed by police early this morning in a Miami Twp. shooting. Here is what we know so far.

- Robert Edwards, 33, was shot and killed by a Miami Twp. police officer shortly after midnight Wednesday morning after police said he refused to drop his weapon.

- The weapon Edwards was holding was later discovered to be a pellet gun.

- Police responded to Del Barton Avenue in the Oakwood Village mobile home park off Wood Road around 12:15 after receiving a call about a man making suicidal threats.

- Police said the shooting occurred at the door of the mobile home, and officers did not go inside until after the shooting.

- Edwards was struck three times, police said, and fell to the ground, prompting an officer to give him CPR.

- The officers who first responded to the scene are experienced, Miami Twp. Capt. John Magill said, but he did not release their names.

- Children and other adults were in the mobile home at the time of the shooting, but no one else was threatened or harmed, officers said.

- The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been asked to investigate the shooting.

- Both officers will be put on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the BCI's investigation.

- This is the ninth officer involved shooting in the Dayton area in 2017, and the seventh that resulted in a death.

- This year's number of area officer involved shooting is four more than in 2016.
