Miamisburg police are seeking the public’s help in finding suspects in an attempted store theft who may be linked to similar crimes in the Beavercreek area.

The first suspect is described as a heavy-set black man with a beard, and the second a white male, according to police.

Before entering the Home Depot near the Dayton Mall early Tuesday afternoon, the two were seen exiting an older model Lincoln car with a sunroof and no license plates. The first suspect was later seen running to that car after fleeing the store, police said.

Both suspects were seen entering the store empty-handed about 12:30 p.m., just after both got out of the Lincoln, according to police.

About 15 minutes later, the first suspect sought to steal a cart full of Milwaukee Tools, police said.

He “selected a number of Milwaukee Tools and placed them in a shopping cart,” according to Miamisburg police. “The male pushed the cart with the tools to the main entrance of the store and passed all points of purchase in his attempt to leave the store” without paying.

A worker then confronted the man, who then fled the store without the cart or tools and running to the Lincoln, leaving in an unknown direction, police said

Anyone with any information as to the possible identity of either subject is asked to contact Detective Sgt. J.S. Muncy at 937-847-6612.
