Deputy Abby Dudley, 37, returned from unpaid administrative leave effective Monday, according to the sheriff’s office.

She had driving privileges restored by a Fairborn Municipal Court magistrate on June 25, according to court records.

On May 21, the Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped Dudley while she was driving on U.S. 35 and exiting onto I-675 in Beavercreek.

“The vehicle was observed exiting onto Interstate 675 and traveled outside its lane of travel multiple times,” according to court records.

Dudley reportedly told troopers that she had a couple beers while at her friend’s house.

Troopers found a “cold, open Bud Light aluminum bottle in the driver’s door pouch,” according to court records.

She also reportedly gave troopers an expired Ohio driver’s license and told them that she had a loaded gun in her purse, which they seized.

Before the traffic stop, a silver pickup truck tried to stop troopers from pulling over Dudley.

The driver, who was later identified as a friend of Dudley, reportedly told troopers that he thought she was impaired and that he was trying to stop troopers from stopping her.

“He also stated he was trying to get me to stop him instead, so she would not get into trouble with her work,” a trooper wrote in court records.

Dudley was cited for OVI, a marked lanes violation and driving with an expired license.

She pleaded not guilty to charges in May. Her next court appearance is Monday for a pretrial hearing, according to court records.
