2-month-old Dayton child’s death ruled a homicide

A child died in Dayton earlier this month in a suspected abuse case, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. NICK GRAHAM/STAFF

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office today confirmed the death of a 2-month old in Dayton on Feb. 5 that was possibly the result of child abuse.

Gabriel Clouse died of blunt force injuries, according to the coroner’s office.

His death was ruled a homicide.

This information comes the day after Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s office announced he directed the state to review Montgomery County Children Services’ handling of abuse and neglect cases locally.

The infant’s death follows the Dec. 13 death of 10-year-old Takoda Collins after what officials call a period of extreme abuse.
