4-month-old girl suffers multiple broken bones; Dayton man charged

A Dayton man accused of breaking his 4-month old daughter’s arm and causing other fractures was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury.

Xavier Cox, 25, was indicted on two counts of endangering children and felonious assault.

His arraignment is Thursday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

On Aug. 1, Cox’s daughter was seen at the hospital for an arm injury the and was diagnosed with an acute fracture in her right arm, according to a Dayton Municipal Court statement of facts.

Three other healing fractures were reportedly discovered as well.

“We spoke with Xavier Cox who admitted that he used too much force with [her] while he was frustrated and he believes he caused the injury,” a detective wrote in the affidavit.

The suspected abuse happened between 6 and 10 p.m. July 29, according to court documents.

Cox initially was charged in August with felonious assault and endangering children.
