The suspect was Kurtis Lee Rogers, 19, of Dayton, according to Troy Police Sgt. Dominic Burnside.
Burnside said that late yesterday an officer saw the PT Cruiser near Main Street and South Dorset Street in Troy with an equipment violation and tried to pull it over. The PT Cruiser then took an illegal U-turn, turned off its lights, and got on the interstate, he said.
Troy police units pursued the vehicle for a short distance down I-75 South before ending the chase. Burnside said they ended the pursuit because the original reason for pulling over the PT Cruiser was so minor and there were rising safety concerns.
However, law enforcement continued to receive reports of a reckless driver on I-75, and other agencies restarted the pursuit in Montgomery County using information provided by Troy Police.
The suspect vehicle then continued south on I-75, with the driver holding a pipe out the window that made it look like he had a shotgun, according to OSHP officials.

State troopers deployed spike traps to pop the suspect vehicle’s tires, though officials said that two other vehicles ran over the traps, which popped their tires as well.
A state trooper later used a PIT maneuver to stop the PT Cruiser. They were able to take the suspect into custody.
Burnside said that Rogers would be taken to Miami Valley Hospital to be checked for any injuries, and then taken to jail. The trooper that performed the PIT maneuver was not injured.
Burnside said that Rogers would face traffic violations and felony fleeing and eluding charges in Miami County, and would likely have similar charges from the other agencies involved in the pursuit.
UPDATE @ 1:08 a.m.:
All but the right-hand lane of southbound I-75 have reopened as crews work to tow away the suspect vehicle, according to OSHP dispatch records.
Records also said that there were no injuries in the pursuit.
