FIRST REPORT Dec. 18 @ 9:33 p.m.: Oakwood schools warned parents Tuesday about a stranger who who may have approached a student in the city.
The Oakwood Safety Department at 5:30 p.m. began an investigating after a 12-year-old girl reported she was approached by a man she did not know who asked her to get in his vehicle near the intersection of Shafor Boulevard and Hadley Avenue, according to Oakwood schools.
The girl immediately left and went home, where she told her parents about the incident. Her parents called the safety department, the schools reported.
The stranger is described as a taller man with a medium build and dark brown beard wearing a red flannel shirt and jeans.
Anyone who has information is urged to call the Oakwood Safety Department at 937-298-2122.
Below is the letter sent to parents:
"In cooperation with the Oakwood Safety Department, we wanted to share information about an occurrence that happened this evening.
On Tuesday, Dec. 18, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Oakwood Safety Department began investigating a report of a 12-year-old female who was approached by a man she did not know near the intersection of Shafor and Hadley. The suspect approached the girl and asked her to get in his vehicle. The girl immediately left the area and went home. When she safely arrived home, she told her parents about the incident and the OSD was contacted.
The suspect is described as a white male, taller, medium build, with a dark brown beard wearing a red flannel shirt and jeans.
Anyone who has any additional information about this occurrence is asked to call the Oakwood Safety Department at 937-298-2122."
