A woman accused of pointing a gun at a Tipp City police officer and prompting an officer-involved shooting seemed upset and was crying and loading a gun at a bar, a 9-1-1 caller told dispatchers.

The woman twice pointed a gun at officer and refused to follow orders to drop the weapon before the officer fired a round, police said.

The woman was not hit by any gunfire. She was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.

Officers found a toy gun at the scene that was painted black, according to Tipp City police.

The incident started just after 1 a.m. when the 9-1-1 caller told dispatchers a woman was inside a downtown bar with a gun, according to dispatch reports.

“No one saw it, but she was loading a gun in her purse,” the caller said. “And I don’t want her to hurt nobody.”

The caller said they were not from the area and weren’t sure what the name of the bar was, but last saw the woman walking toward the highway.

Though the caller had left the bar, they said they “couldn’t shake the feeling” and “didn’t want anybody to get hurt.”

An officer found the woman, who then pointed the gun at police.

She didn’t follow orders to drop the weapon and then fled to “hiding spot” on South Second Street, police said.

When the officer approached her, she reportedly pointed the gun at the officer again.

The officer fired a round, but the woman was not hit.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are not releasing the names of the officers or the woman at this time.
