Emaciated female dog found Monday in Middletown BUTLER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

UPDATE

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office said the dog’s owner has been located and cited for cruelty to a companion animal, a second-degree misdemeanor.

INITIAL REPORT

The Butler County Sheriff's Office has cited canine owner Kyle Hayes, 43, of Middletown with Cruelty to a Companion Animal, which is a misdemeanor 2.

The Sheriff's office posted on social media that “With the help of the community, we were able to close this case pretty quickly. Mr. Hayes will be facing a Judge on this charge, he’ll have his day in court.”

Earlier, the Butler County Dog Warden’s Office was looking for the owner of a emaciated dog found Monday in Middletown.

Deputy dog wardens responded to the corner of Lincoln Street and Sixth Avenue, where the found female pit bull/terrier mix that was emaciated with no chip or tag found, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. The dog is now under the care of the Animal Friends Humane Society.

The sheriff’s office is requesting anyone who may recognize the dog contact Deputy Dog Warden Jamie Hearlihy at 513-887-7297 ext. 6.

“I cannot be any clearer than this. You abuse, neglect, or abandon an animal and cannot be a responsible dog owner we will hold you responsible.This is not going to be tolerated in Butler County,” said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.
