One injured after car crashes into light pole, flees, crashes again

One person was hurt after a vehicle knocked down a light pole, fled the scene, and then crashed again a few minutes later, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

In a release, the sheriff’s office said that around 10:26 p.m. deputies were sent to the intersection of West Third Street and U.S. 35 to investigate a crash.

Police found that a white Chrysler 300 went off the right side of road while driving on West Third Street and crashed into a light pole, knocking it down into the westbound lanes of U.S. 35. The 300 fled from the scene.

Two vehicles travelling on U.S. 35 ran over the pole. Nobody was injured in those vehicles, but their vehicles took some minor damage.

A few minutes later, the Chrysler 300 crashed again in the 1200 block of Infirmary Road by traveling off the left side of the road, hitting a concrete mailbox and a large concrete yard ornament.

The driver of the 300 sustained some minor injuries, and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s office said that the crash remains under investigation.
