The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a phone scam where a caller tells a victim there is a warrant out for their arrest.

“The caller tells victims they have a warrant for their arrest and are sometimes using deputies names to legitimize the call,” the sheriff office said in a press release. “The caller is asking victims for payment to avoid arrest in the form of gift cards or money transfers.”
