Pit bull attacks Dayton mailman

A pit bull attacked a postal carrier as the man was delivering mail to a home in the 50 block of Drury Street on Tuesday afternoon, according to a police report.

Robert Mays told an officer, who was dispatched to the scene, that as he approached the home, the 4-year-old pit bull named Kali jumped out of a window and bit him on the left hand and upper arm, the report said. Nichole Mulvaney, who lives in the home, came outside and ordered her dog to return to the house, the report said.

She reportedly told the officer that she was asleep with her windows opened, and that’s how the dog got loose. The officer gave Mulvaney a quarantine notice and she will be ordered to appear in court.

Paremedics treated Mays at the scene.
