Police blotter

VANDALIA (MAY 29) – Two males were charged with complicity to criminal damaging and charges were planned against a third after a fire extinguisher was set off inside the Timberlake Apartments in the early morning hours. A property manager told police she received a Snapchat video of a male setting off the extinguisher while a second man is encouraging the act and a third was taking the video. Police were working to identify the man who set off the extinguisher but said they were able to talk to the other two participants shortly after viewing the video.

VANDALIA (MAY 29) - A Kettering woman was charged with disorderly conduct after a fight at Waffle House that police said began over a request for the woman to move a dog that was blocking the door to a restroom. Witnesses told police the woman was upset and started calling the man names before slapping a phone from the hands of another man who was recording the incident. Police said everyone involved in the altercation was intoxicated.

TIPP CITY (JUNE 7) – A police officer on patrol reported being flagged down by a citizen at Main and Hyatt streets around 4:30 a.m. The person said they wanted to know what DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) stood for, the officer said.

TROY (JUNE 16)- The owner of a rural Troy property reported to Miami County sheriff’s deputies that a juvenile she knew snuck into her pool area the previous night, had a party and damaged the residence. The juvenile was charged with criminal damaging and criminal trespassing.

PIQUA (JUNE 13) – A woman complained to police that someone was making false and damaging statements on Facebook about her and her husband. The woman was advised to resolve the issue through Facebook and was told she could attempt to seek recourse through the civil courts.

PIQUA (JUNE 14) – A customer in the drive through of McDonalds on East Ash Street around 12:15 a.m. became upset because he was told he had to pay before being given his order. The unhappy customer threatened to assault the employee at the end of his shift, police were told.
