Police blotter

VANDALIA (AUG. 18) – Police called to Alkaline Springs Road found a man standing on the sidewalk very intoxicated with mouth injuries. The man claimed he and a friend went out drinking and got into an argument, agreeing to “throw fists” when they returned to one of the men’s residence. He claimed the other man hit him in the mouth, knocking out his teeth. The second man said the injured man pushed him and he retaliated by pushing him. The man wasn’t punched in the mouth, but fell into the corner of a storage building and hit his mouth. Blood in the area supported that version of the story. Both men were charged with fighting with the injured man also cited for resisting arrest.

VANDALIA (AUG. 26) – Police were called to the KFC on National Road on a complaint that a customer in the drive through was attempting to pass a counterfeit $50 bill. Employees said a woman driving the vehicle said she had received the bill as change at a gas station. She said she would pull into a parking spot to allow other customers to receive service while police were on the way. When police arrived, the car was gone.

UNION TWP., Miami County (SEPT. 4) – The sheriff’s office received several reports of loud music and vehicles revving their engines around 2 a.m. near Ludlow Falls The property owner said he wasn’t the one making the noise. He was told by deputies to spread the word that the revving of engines and the use of vehicles to do “doughnuts” in the yard had ended for the night.

ENGLEWOOD (AUG. 22) – A woman reported someone slashed a tire on her car in a parking lot in the 9000 block of North Main Street. The woman said the damage possibly was related to a verbal altercation her husband had engaged in with two others over unavailable parking prior to their pulling into a parking space.

ENGLEWOOD (AUG. 23) – A man found lying on the ground outside a Salem Avenue business eventually was revived by paramedics using Narcan. Police said they received a call around 9 a.m. about the man who refused to say what drug or other substance he had taken. The man was found to have a warrant for possession of heroin and additionally was charged with disorderly conduct for being unable to care for himself while under the influence of drugs.
