Dayton police arrested a couple after they assaulted officers at the Gem City Shine event.

Shortly after 9 p.m. police got a call that a man was assaulting a woman, according to police documents. Officers advised Michael Hyland, 27, and Allison Couch, 25, that they needed to leave.

Hyland started pushing random concert-goers and then pushed police as they tried to talk with him.

Police placed Hyland under arrest after the pushing started. Couch got upset, kicking an officer in the groin and scratching a different officer with her nails. Police then arrested her, too.

Couch is charged with assaulting a peace officer, a felony, and misdemeanor charges. Hyland is charged with disorderly conduct.

There were no other arrests at the Gem City Shine event on Sunday, Dayton police said.

Both are still in the Montgomery County jail.
