Crews were called around 9:45 p.m. to the 5000 block of Norris Drive in Dayton, where they found the gunshot victim. However, an investigation determined that the shooting happened on Republic Drive near Gant Drive in the Northland Village Apartments in Harrison Twp., according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy's mother called 911 from a Norris Drive home in Dayton, where she and her son were waiting outside for medics.
The woman said her son shot at somebody and was struck in the knee when that person fired back. She said her son did not know who shot him. She described her son as "unruly" during the 911 call and said he was intoxicated.

The teen suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, deputies said.
There were no arrests, and the incident is under investigation.

Police are investigating a shooting tonight after a male was shot in the knee.
Crews were called shortly after 9:45 p.m. to the 5000 block of Norris Drive, off Needmore Road in Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

The gunshot victim’s name and condition were not immediately available.
Police also have not released any suspect information about the shooter.
