Police: Man shot multiple times in Dayton

Police are seeking the driver of an older model SUV after a man was shot multiple times Monday night in Dayton.

The shooting was reported around 8:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of Darst Avenue near South Smithville Road.

Callers reported hearing several gunshots, then seeing a man lying in the street, according to dispatch records. One caller described seeing a large group surrounding the man on the ground.

Police said they do have a person of interest in the case, but did not release further details.

The suspect vehicle was described as an older model blue Chevrolet Tahoe with rust on it, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

The gunshot victim was taken to a local hospital.

His name and condition were not immediately available, though dispatch records indicated the man was conscious when emergency crews arrived.
