This morning, Springboro Detective Terry Dunkel said the man, suspected in the Sept. 16 robbery at the Hampton Inn, 25 Greenwood Lane, could be back in the area.
“We want to make hotel clerks aware,” Dunkel said. “He might be coming back through here.”
Last night, a thief using the same method of operation, or M.O. in police jargon, robbed a hotel in Paducah, Ky, according to Dunkel.

No charges have been filed and no positive identification has been made, according to Dunkel.
The Springboro detective said he was in communication with a detective in Kenosha, Wis., and had found similarities with alleged robberies in Edmond, Okla., as well as last night in Paducah, just south of the Ohio River on the western edge of Kentucky.

Dunkel has been investigating since a man robbed the motel between 1:05 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., Sept. 16, after diverting the clerk from the front desk.
The detective said similar steps were taken in cases as far away as Pendleton, Ore.
“Then he goes behind the counter,” Dunkel said.
