Authorities seized more than 26 pounds of fentanyl and nine pounds of cocaine following a long-term drug trafficking investigation.

The Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force arrested 39-year-old Jaime Ordaz on Monday night, according to a release from Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

“Ordaz was identified by investigators as being responsible for transporting and delivering several kilograms of fentanyl and cocaine via semi-truck,” the release stated.

He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of drug possession, but has not been formally charged, jail records show.

Investigators said they believe Ordaz was involved in a drug trafficking operation from California that supplied Dayton with a large quantity of fentanyl and cocaine.

The investigators were able to intercept a shipment of drugs.

“This shipment would have caused a while truckload of suffering and death,” Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost stated. “Thanks to our law enforcement partners, it’s off the streets.”

The Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force is made up of officers from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Miami Twp. Police Department, Butler Twp. Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations and Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
