Records said that deputies were called to the facility to search for an inmate named Eric Rowe, who escaped from a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office transport.
Eric Rowe was booked into the Montgomery County Jail at 2:18 a.m. on drug possession charges.
According to jail records, Rowe was being transferred to Montgomery County today from Logan County, where he was arrested on charges including burglary, drug possession, possessing criminal tools and contempt of court.
Court records said that Montgomery County issued a warrant for Rowe’s arrest in November 2019 for the drug charges.
INITIAL REPORT:
A prisoner briefly escaped from a police custody, leading to a search involving units from Miami and Montgomery counties as well as Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers.

Miami County police confirmed that while transporting a prisoner to the Miami County Jail, the prisoner slipped out of “another agency’s cruiser.” The prisoner the fled, and was recaptured after a short search.
Police stressed that there is no safety risk, but that the incident is still under investigation.
Initial reports of the search said that it included K9 units to track the prisoner and assistance from Miami County OSHP units.
