Shelby jail inmate indicted for fatal drug overdose

A man in Shelby  County has been indicted for a fatal drug overdose in the jail.

On Feb. 15, Jacob Lewis was found dead in the jail. It was later determined he died from multiple drug intoxication.

Cameron Wilkins was indicted Thursday for involuntary manslaughter and illegal conveyance of prohibited item onto the jail grounds.

Lewis died of a mix of fentanyl, carfentanil, acryfentanyl, norfentanyl and nordiazepam, according to a media release.

The two inmates shared a cell together.
