Day married his wife in 2013, according to Greene County Probate Court records.
A part-time photographer, Day specialized in “doing work with families to capture special moments,” according to his social media.
Police are investigating the incident as an aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, according to the incident report.
This newsroom has contacted the hotel company seeking more details about the incident.

A 911 call released from the fatal shooting of a Hampton Inn employee indicates the caller found the victim behind the front counter.
“I think I heard gunshots,” the caller told police. “We just walked in the door...somebody shot the guy behind the counter.”

The caller told dispatchers he was applying pressure to the victim’s wound while emergency crews responded to the scene.
The caller also told police he believed the suspects may have fled as he was pulling into the hotel parking lot.
"I think it was two young guys that jumped in a car and drove away quickly as we pulled in,” the caller said.
Police have not released the victim’s identity.
The suspects involved were described as two young males wearing dark clothing who possibly fled in a white late 1990s Buick-style sedan.

A Hampton Inn hotel employee who was shot tonight while working behind the counter succumbed to his injuries at Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek.
Police were called around 7:20 p.m. to the hotel, 2550 Paramount Place, on a report of a shooting. The victim’s name, age and hometown were not released.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, police said.

Police confirmed they are investigating a shooting tonight at the Hampton Inn, where they placed yellow crime scene tape to block off the main entrance.

However, Fairborn police have not released further details about the crime.

Police and medics were called tonight to a report of a shooting at the Hampton Inn.
According to initial reports, a man was shot around 7:20 p.m. behind the counter at the hotel, 2550 Paramount Place.
It was not immediately clear whether the shooting happened during a robbery.

The name, age and condition of the gunshot victim was not available.
