Speeding driver with no license charged with drug possession

CLAYTON (May 30): Driving 65 mph in a 50 mph zone was not a good idea for a driver who was found to have had no driving privileges since March 30, 1999. None of his three passengers had driving privileges, either.

At least the driver owned the vehicle. However, a vehicle inventory before it was towed turned up a broken digital scale and a red plastic box inside a reddish bag, which the driver said he owned.

Inside the box were two pipes and numerous copper wool filters the police considered usable for drug abuse. There was also a shoe box in the truck with five small plastic bottles with more copper wool filters, four spoons, marijuana pipe and plastic bag containing 69 marijuana seeds. There was a total of 36 copper wool filters.

The driver was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with speeding and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license.
