The Springboro High School student charged in connection with the closing of the high school on Thursday will remain in detention.

Warren County Common Pleas Court Judge Joe Kirby ordered the 17-year-old to remain in detention while he undergoes a risk assessment.

On Friday, Clearcreek Twp. teen’s lawyer, Stephen Bernat, said his client was an honor student who was missing his first day of high school to be at the court appearance.

But prosecutors urged Kirby to keep him incarcerated until they have assessed him.

The teen was charged after he was found twice inside the high school early Thursday morning. Officials said he was trying to cheat on a test.
