Springfield man accused of leaving injured passenger behind after Dayton crash

A 29-year-old Springfield man is accused of leaving an injured passenger behind after a crash this summer in Dayton.

Jamar Gradon Peterson was indicted Friday for vehicular assault and failure to stop after an accident, both felony charges, according to a Montgomery County grand jury report.

Peterson was driving south on Rip Rap Road around 3 a.m. June 7 when he did not stop and drove off the roadway into a ditch on the west side of Little York Road, according to a Dayton Police Department crash report.

There were two passengers riding with Peterson, including a 19-year-old Vandalia woman who suffered serious injuries and was taken from the scene to Miami Valley Hospital.

The traffic crash report indicated that police suspected alcohol was a factor in the crash, and that Peterson drove off after the crash.

Peterson is not in custody and was issued a summons to appear Dec. 3 for his arraignment in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
