Springfield parents charged in 21-month-old toddler’s death

Two people have been charged in connection to the dehydration death of a toddler.

Caitlyn Heinzen, 27, and Brandon Beedy, 33, both of Springfield, were charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony endangering children in Clark County Common Pleas Court.

They are charged in connection to the Jan. 12 death of their son, who was found dead in a home on Kenton Street, according to the Springfield Police Division.

“When officers and medics arrived at the scene, they discovered 21-month-old Camden Beedy, deceased,” a press release from police stated. “During the investigation and through the final autopsy report, the official cause of death of the child was determined to be dehydration.”

Heinzen was arrested Thursday and placed in the Clark County Jail. Brandon Beedy is hospitalized for an unrelated medical issue.

A police report detailing the incident stated police were called around 6 p.m. Jan. 12 to the home in the 1900 block of Kenton Street in response to a report that a young child had died.
