Haggy was arrested on a warrant issued Tuesday on three misdemeanor charges related to alleged violations of state pawn shop regulations.
According to Clark County Municipal Court records, sheriff’s Detective David Perks went to the pawn shop Dec. 8, 2014, to follow up on a case. While in the business, Perks saw Haggy purchase a gift card. Haggy had the seller sign a receipt book and handed him cash, but did not give the seller a receipt. When the detective asked about gift cards, Haggy told Perks he didn’t record them in the computer and that the cards were “his paycheck,” the document stated.
Perks said he checked with Springfield police, which confirmed the business has not reported the purchase of gift cards, according to the court record.
State regulations require pawn shops to provide receipts to customers and to record transactions, according to the sheriff’s office.
Haggy is scheduled to appear Friday morning in municipal court on the three third-degree misdemeanor charges, which are each punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.
