Suspect in June 2018 shooting death charged in jailhouse assault

One of three people facing murder charges in the June 2018 death of a Dayton man has a second trial pending for a jailhouse assault.

Carlos Lamont Blanton Jr., 21, was arraigned Wednesday — with the case set for trial March 16 — for a 9 p.m. Feb. 28 assault at the Montgomery County Jail, 330 W. Second St., according to Dayton Municipal Court records.

Blanton also is due back March 26 for a hearing in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court to suppress evidence in connection to a homicide case.

Blanton, Tylin Watson, 20, and Kalesha Whitner, 24, are accused of shooting and killing 27-year-old Tevin K. Million Sr. on June 11, 2018, in the 2300 block of Newport Avenue in Dayton.

Blanton was indicted on a dozen charges in Million’s death, including four counts of murder and multiple weapons violations, and is held on $1 million bond in the jail.
