The Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force seized three kilos of cocaine, more than $230,000 and arrested two Texas men accused of smuggling drugs across several states.

A joint press release Friday from Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer and Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine estimated the street value of the cocaine at $300,000.

Investigators tracked Jorge Alberto Enriquez and Jose Artemio Sloss from a Dayton-area hotel last week through several states, according to the release. The task force stopped the suspects’ car Thursday when they were driving from Detroit toward Dayton and found the cocaine.

A later search of their hotel uncovered $234,848 in cash and a firearm. Both men were arrested on federal drug charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and transported to the Montgomery County Jail, according to the release.

“I’m proud of the work members of the Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force do every day to intercept drugs as smugglers move them in and out of the Dayton area and through many other cities in Ohio,” DeWine said in the release. “This is just the latest example of the power of teamwork in combating the drug problem in Ohio.”

Plummer said: “We can’t do it alone. We are all in this together to make our community and other areas in and around the Miami Valley safe. It’s a collaborative effort between federal, state and local agencies that continues to make our work successful. I would like to thank the community for their continued support in calling our drug tip line and assisting us in stopping these drugs from hitting our streets.”
