The two teens shot in Springfield last week are still recovering in the hospital, police said Friday.

No arrests have been made in the case, according to court records. But Springfield Police Chief Steve Moody said his detectives are still out working leads in the investigation.

UPDATE 1:40 p.m. (Aug. 19):

According to a report the male victim of a Springfield shooting gave to police he was “set up” to be robbed and the criminals opened fire.

Kyle Domanek, 19, was shot multiple times in a home on South Burnett Road Thursday.

Domanek and a 13-year-old girl were inside the home with another friend of Domanek’s and another man the teen claimed not to know, according to a Springfield police report.

Two unknown men entered the back door of the home and said multiple times “Give me all you got!,” Domanek told police in the report.

The suspects took $200 cash, a Play Station 3 and a cell phone and then started shooting, police said.

Domanek was shot 5 times in the leg and pelvic area, police said, and 13-year-old Amanda Mickle was shot in the leg. Mickle’s father told this news station he was upstairs in the home when he heard his daughter yell for help.

“I came downstairs to find my daughter in a pool of blood,” Richard Mickle said. “She’s only 13-and-a-half years old.”

Springfield police are following leads in the case, Chief Steve Moody said. Moody said the attack was targeted and not random violence.

UPDATE @ 11:42 a.m. (Aug. 19)

Springfield police Chief Steve Moody said the Thursday night shooting that left two teenagers seriously wounded was a targeted attack.

“We want to ensure the business owners and the residents (near) South Burnett Road area, this was not random. So we have a focus that we’re working on,” Moody said Friday.

Springfield detectives are out in the city now following leads on possible shooters or others involved in the crime, Moody said.

According to Facebook posts from one of the victim’s family, the two teens are recovering from their injuries in the hospital.

The police report on the shooting said 19-year-old Kyle Domanek was shot five times in the leg and pelvic area. And 13-year-old Amanda Mickle, whose father talked to this news station after the shooting, was shot in the femoral artery on her leg, the report states.

The victims also reported the gunmen and other assailants robbed the home of a game system, cell phone and cash, according to the Springfield police report.

UPDATE @ 10:25 p.m. (Aug. 18)

Springfield police are continuing their investigation of the shooting of two teenagers inside a home on South Burnett Road.

The victims, a 19-year-old male and a 13-and-a-half year-old female, have been taken to Miami Valley Hospital and Dayton Children’s Hospital respectively. Both were shot in at least one or both of their legs and they are said to be in critical condition.

The female has been transferred to Miami Valley Hospital.

Police have no suspects, Sgt. Matthew Buynak said. A police division crime scene unit was at the address late tonight.

The girl’s father, Richard Mickle, said, “I know it was more than one person, but I don’t know if it was three or four” people who fired the shots.

He said the teenagers were in the downstairs living room, playing video games, and he was in an upstairs bedroom, resting from back surgery.

“I heard a series of shots ring out and I heard my daughter’s voice yell for me… ‘please come, I’ve been shot,’ ” Mickle said.

He got up and called 9-1-1, then was met on the stairs by the 19-year-old, who had gunshot wounds in both legs.

“I came downstairs to find my daughter in a pool of blood,” Mickle said. “She’s only 13-and-a-half years old.”

Mickle said he has no idea who would want to shoot his daughter and her friend. He said he asked the 19-year-old whether he knew the attackers and believes the young man might have an idea. Mickle said his daughter told him she doesn’t know the assailants.

“It had to have been some friends that went wrong,” Mickle said. “There’s no illegal activity going on that would cause me to believe there was some suspicious activity that somebody would shoot guns over.”
