Here’s what we know now about this case:
1. Ray Adams, 50, is free on $10,000 bond, while charged with illegal conveyance onto institution, possession of marijuana and criminal tools, and illegal conveyance of a communication device onto grounds of a specified government facility, according to on-line Warren County Common Pleas Court.
2. Adams has been a driver with United Dairy and has been a prison milk deliveryman for two years, Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell told the Associated Press.
3. Law enforcement officers searched the nearly 30,000 milk cartons Adams was delivering on Jan. 8 and found contraband, including 12 cellphones, in 30 of them, according to information Fornshell provided to the Associated Press.
4. Authorities say they believe the milkman had inside help. On Tuesday, a state trooper obtained a warrant to search the car of a recreational therapist at Warren Correctional Institution, located next to Lebanon Correctional Institution on Ohio 63 in Turtlecreek Twp.
The warrant alleges the therapist who has not been charged “has been conveying contraband, to include but not limited to tobacco, marijuana, and heroin into the prison for several years.”
5. Adams was arraigned on Feb. 16, but no other hearings have been scheduled in the case.
