Troy police investigating possible theft at foster child agency

Troy police investigators have asked the Ohio Attorney General’s Office for advice as they review documents seized from the offices of the nonprofit Isaiah’s Place in Troy as a part of a theft investigation.

No one has been charged in the investigation.

A search warrant was served at the offices at 1100 Wayne St. on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

A search warrant inventory filed Monday afternoon, Nov. 28, showed police seized bank records, receipts, tax paperwork, payroll documents, policies, board minutes, a lap top and computer among other items.

Capt. Jeff Kunkleman said Monday, Nov. 28, police believe at least $100,000 could be missing from the organization. The organization is a placement agency for foster children.

The search warrant states the investigation involves possible tampering with records, theft and falsification. Subpoenas also have been obtained for bank records, he said. NANCY BOWMAN, CONTRIBUTING WRITER
