Bomb threat evacuates Beavercreek Walmart; store reopens

The Beavercreek Walmart Supercenter was evacuated Wednesday night after a bomb threat was called into the store.

The store was evacuated after a male caller said there was a bomb in the store, which is open 24 hours, at 3360 Pentagon Blvd., Beavercreek police said.

There were four bomb-sniffing K-9 units that checked the building but did not find any devices, police said.

Police said they will try to determine who made the threat.

Shopper Lisa Pruitt of Riverside said she was in the store for about 20 minutes when she heard an order over the speakers around 6 p.m. for all customers and employees to come to the front of the store. They were then ordered to leave, but she said no reason was given.

Another customer said there was no panic, but that shoppers had confused looks on their faces.

Larry and Jackie Mager of Fairborn said they were ordered to move their car 50 feet from the store, and that they saw a cruiser from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base police in the parking lot.

Employees went back into the store around 8:15 p.m., and at 9:14 p.m., the store reopened.
