The victim was identified as Darlene Yocum, 32. She was identified as his girlfriend in initial reports and pronounced dead at Bethesda North Hospital in Hamilton County on Saturday night.
At the arraignment, Timmons told Loxley he has been self-employed for three years but would be hard-pressed to hire a lawyer while held in the county jail in Lebanon, according to court records.

According to a docket entry, Timmons also said he had five children he needed to care for and asked that his truck — seized after he allegedly fled the scene of the shooting with Yocum, according to initial reports — be returned to him. It was unclear when Yocum died.
Timmons was arrested at a children’s hospital facility in Mason at 10:25 p.m. Saturday and booked into the jail at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, according to jail records.
Authorities so far have declined to provide further details on what happened.
According to the docket entry, Timmons is barred from returning to his home on Stephens Road, due to the pending investigation, but indicated he could stay with his parents. Loxley also issued a protection order for the children.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 14.
Timmons remained in the county jail.
