The description of the case alleges Safarik “broke into the victim’s home and set fire to the building” on Oct. 20.

Safarik was also charged with grand theft auto, driving without a license and drug abuse following his arrest in connection with the fire in an apartment on High Street in Waynesville, according to reports.
Safarik allegedly jumped from a rear window in the apartment, but told police he set the fire because “people were after him,” according to the incident report.
Residents of other apartments in the building, some who were sleeping, were evacuated from the building by emergency workers. The building sustained “substantial damage,” Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said.
Safarik is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday on the arson and burglary charges in Warren County Common Pleas Court.
